Summary

My first love ended in tragedy。
My second began with his brother。

From Wall Street Journal bestseller Parker S。 Huntington comes a broken love story laced with angst and forbidden romance。

I wasn’t supposed to be on that roof on Valentine’s Day。

Neither was Kellan Marchetti, the school’s designated freak。

We met on the verge of ending our lives。

Somehow, the tattered strings of our tragedies tangled and tightened into an unlikely bond。

We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended。

Same time。

One roof。

Two restless souls。

We kept our promise for three years。

On the fourth, Kellan made a decision, and I was left to deal with the consequences。

Just when I thought our story ended, another one began。

They say all love stories look the same and taste different。

Mine was venomous, disgraceful, and written in scarlet scars。

My name is Charlotte Richards, but you can call me Venom。

I absolutely loved this book even when it had me in tears because of the very heavy subject matter。 That being said, it was one of the best books I have read this year。。。and I read a lot of books。 If you want to tear your heart out and laugh really hard at times as well, then this is the book for you。 I am keeping this review deliberately short because the story itself was so unique, I don't want to spoil a thing。 Go into it blind like I did and enjoy。 ***** 5 ***** "nothing is ever what it seem I absolutely loved this book even when it had me in tears because of the very heavy subject matter。 That being said, it was one of the best books I have read this year。。。and I read a lot of books。 If you want to tear your heart out and laugh really hard at times as well, then this is the book for you。 I am keeping this review deliberately short because the story itself was so unique, I don't want to spoil a thing。 Go into it blind like I did and enjoy。 ***** 5 ***** "nothing is ever what it seems to be" stars 。。。more

EmotionalThis book has so many issues and you get sucked right into them from the get go。 While they are deep, you feel them, cry with them, die with them and still it doesn’t leave you drained of feeling at the end。 The future is bright。 One of the best books I’ve read on this topic。 Highly recommend。

I really really wanted to give this 5 stars。 But 3。5 stars it is。 I cried sooo much at Leah and Charlotte’s sibling development it genuinely hit harder probably because I’m the oldest sibling as well。 I also cried so much everytime Kellan’s name was brought up, he was probably the character that carried the book。 I definitely have developed a huge soft spot for him because his deep love for Charlotte is just genuinely so endearing。 Meanwhile, Tate and charlottes romance just didn’t entertain me I really really wanted to give this 5 stars。 But 3。5 stars it is。 I cried sooo much at Leah and Charlotte’s sibling development it genuinely hit harder probably because I’m the oldest sibling as well。 I also cried so much everytime Kellan’s name was brought up, he was probably the character that carried the book。 I definitely have developed a huge soft spot for him because his deep love for Charlotte is just genuinely so endearing。 Meanwhile, Tate and charlottes romance just didn’t entertain me very much which is so shocking since I USUALLY LOVE THE MAIN COUPLE THE MOST IN ANY BOOK。 I mean sure they had physically chemistry and their age gap is MASSIVE but like ugh I was so bored during that part for some reason。 Also because the second half of the book was a bit of a drag to read。 The first half of the book was 5 stars though but it really just kind of went downhill after that 。。。more

Yeah, this book, is one of those special books that is what draws me to the wonderment of living in a fictional world。 I have loved everything that this author has written。 In fact, Devious Lies is one of my all-time favorite books of the thousands of books that I have read。 Yet, this book? this book ranked even higher。I thought I had a good idea of what this book was going to be about just based on the blurb。 In a way, the blurb was spot on。 However, it doesn't even begin to cover what this book was about。 I won't lie, I hurt reading about the connection that Kellan and Charlotte had, moreover, the reasons why they had it。 It is not something that is easily comprehended。 more often than naught, I struggle with it in fiction because it is deeply personal to me。 Trying to navigate it into something that needs to be talked about without making it shameful is hard。 Nor, should it ever be glorified or romanticized。 And somehow, the author was able to depict that in this book。 Like it or not, it is a part of our society, whether we agree with it or not。 The fact that this author was able to humanize this in a way that I felt in a plethora of ways says something。 I felt the emotions。 I came to understand what was going on in their minds。 When Charlie and Tate started talking about Kellan, my heart hurt all over again。 At times, I was almost crippled with a deep pain in my chest at watching these two characters navigate so many emotions。 At one time or another, I watched the anger, the betrayal, the sadness, the agonizing grief, the acceptance, and even the happiness or acceptance of something that was out of their control。 I am not going to lie, I felt those same emotions at Kellan and he was fictional。The author broke this book up into stages。 I needed those stages as a way to get my emotions sorted out。 Not only, in regards to the main story and connection between Tate and Charlie, but also to make sense of Kellan, Terry (Kellan and Tate's father), and also Charlie's relationship with her sister。 This is a big book。 According to Goodreads, this book says it is only 470 pages but Amazon says it is over 700 pages。 I am going with Amazon on this one because there was A LOT of story to unpack here and it needed all of those pages。 Even being long, the book never felt like it was dragging on in。 In fact, it could have gone on for more, and I would have been happy。 I liked what was discovered at the end of the book (it sure made me question if it wasn't a significant factor in what impacted Kellan) but I do wish that it had given more insight into what the fallout of that particular bombshell had after it came out。 Yet, even with wondering the impact, I still have to say that watching Tate and Charlie navigate this maelstrom was beautiful。 I loved how the author incorporated Darling Venom into this love story and the significance of the title as a book but also in regards to the characters themselves。 I loved reading the snippets of the story as it unveiled insight into all the characters。 It made it more personable for me。 This book is one of the best of 2021。 I needed a reminder that beauty comes from ugliness。 I think we all do。 。。。more

I loved this book so much! When I finished it I was like 。。。。damn。 I want to read it again。 The first part of this book was so good。 Even though Kellan wasn't the main character he was essentially the catalyst for the entire story and the scenes that included Kellan were my favourites。 “This is not the beginning of something,” Kellan warned。 “If anything, it’s the end。”And whilst I still would have loved Charlie to end up with Kellan because I loved him that's not what this story was about。 I wi I loved this book so much! Yeah no。 Aaaand I called the whole Terry stealing the book from Kellen early on so that wasn't really a twist for me。 (hide spoiler)] But I loved every single one of the characters and the story and just ughhh! Definitely read this! 。。。more

One of the best books I've read this year, it has my whole heart。Part One destroyed me; I felt the pain, the despair, my heart broke into pieces。 The Second part gave me hope; it made me cry, it made me laugh, I felt my heart being glued back together。 The third part made me happy; I had a giddy smile on my face & I felt nostalgic。 When I was done with the book, I was reminded of why I love to read: to feel, to get lost in a story, & everything else this book made me go through。 If it’s not clear by now, I loved this book so much。 I can even begin to describe my love for Charlie, Kellan & Tate。 I loved them so much that my heart wants to burst as I write this。 Charlie was strong, was real, had flaws, & I was so happy to read about her from start to finish。 Kellan, my boy Kel, I loved you so much & I get so emotional when I think of you。 He was a genius, but most importantly he was a human being who deserved the best。 Tate, where do I start with Tate? I was so happy that we got Tate’s POV & how the story developed。 Tate, my fav *sshole, no offense intended just trying to keep Kel’s words alive。 All three have a piece of my heart。 There would be no Tate & Charlie without Kellan。 There would be no Kellan & Charlie without Tate。 Also, I saw the hardcover of DV has Kellan’s name on the spine of the book。 This made perfect sense & it was so metaphorically beautiful。 Charlie mentioned that the most important part of the book is the spine & I felt this in every way。 Kellan was the spine of this book。Until we meet again dicks, my fav boy Kel, and my fav asshole Tate (Kel’s words not mine)。 。。。more

Any words I can string together to describe this book will not do it justice。 When someone asks me what my favourite books are - I’ll now include this one, without hesitation。 This story consumed the entirety of my thoughts。 I devoured the 90 chapters like a single-minded psychopath, and loved every second of it。

This book was amazing, and exactly what I need to pull me out of a slump。 One of my favorites of 2021。 A slow burn, not just for the romance, but of each characters development。 Yes, it’s a lengthy book - but I feel like to truly give each person the growth they needed, time (pages) were important。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I don’t know where to begin。 This book was absolutely incredible。 Like couldn’t put down to save my life incredible。Let’s start with the story between Charlie and Kellan。 My heart and soul went out for these 2 characters。 I wanted nothing but the best for them and it broke me when Kellan kept getting bullied and he chose not to let Charlie in。 I think he was never going to let them have a chance because he knew he was always going to do it。 This killed me to learn the truth。Then we have Tate and I don’t know where to begin。 This book was absolutely incredible。 Like couldn’t put down to save my life incredible。Let’s start with the story between Charlie and Kellan。 My heart and soul went out for these 2 characters。 I wanted nothing but the best for them and it broke me when Kellan kept getting bullied and he chose not to let Charlie in。 I think he was never going to let them have a chance because he knew he was always going to do it。 This killed me to learn the truth。Then we have Tate and Charlie’s story where my heart was screaming for them to be together。 Usually if the MC has hooked up with a significant others family in any way I’m always a little turned off and can’t look past it。 That wasn’t this case with this book。 You wanted them to end up together because it always felt right。 They needed each other in every way。 And when he finally began to accept her love, he still couldn’t admit to loving her back even though you were pleading with him that it was okay to love her because honestly how could you not!? Everything about their story brought me happiness that they made it together。Finally, The Marchetti boys story。 We all knew Tate wasn’t a monster。 He was truly trying to do the right thing by Kellen when his father gave up。 I wish we had more insight on how Kellan felt about his story being stolen by his father。 These boys hold a place so dear to my heart now。 Honestly, every character in this book does。Song: I’ve Never Felt So Alone 。。。more
